On March 20, we held the following event for the Trade.

One of the biggest trends in home building is modifying or adapting the home for health reasons.  To properly Age in Place, we need to understand the various roles that stakeholders play in properly modifying or building a new home.

At one time this market was a small niche, but since Covid, it has burgeoned to 11 Million Canadians spending a projected $87 Billion dollars over the next few years to make these changes.

Unlike most renovations or new builds, home modifications can involve a wide array of stakeholders from family caregivers, occupational therapists, home medical equipment (elevators, stairlifts) providers, chronic disease specialists, insurance providers and injury lawyers.  A contractor-builder working in this space needs to be aware of the requirements each professional brings to a modification project.

There are currently 30,000 homes in Simcoe County requiring some sort of modification for safe living. If your organization provides services or products to address this need, then this professional symposium is for you.

On March 20, we held the following event for consumers

How we house our older adults can define us as a community.  There is a lot of pressure on governments to do more for our older residents, but they can’t do it all.

Consumer research shows that seniors move more than once in their later stages of life. Often this is either for the lack of appropriate or accessible housing or lack of family caregiver supports.

We are currently in a Health and Housing crisis. Long Term Care facilities cannot keep up with the demand, and research shows that this is not where people are choosing to live.

Join us as we bring together local experts discussing real, practical solutions for Aging In Place in Simcoe County.

Online registration required.

Find out answers to the questions you have and open your eyes to the options available to you in Simcoe County to live in the community of your choice with the social supports you will need.
